Tips for Migraine Sufferers

I know first hand how dificult it is to stay positive, happy, eat properly and exercise regularly while suffering with Migraines.
I suffered with them for 11 years and can identify with the anxiety and depression that sometimes accompanies the pain. The circle can be a viscious one with no possible end in sight. I was one of those people who is hard to medicate and found this out by inadvertantly taking too many med's to the point of technically o'ding and frightening my doctor silly!
I am here to tell you that there is hope and that if you are willing to do the work, you can recover!
Here are some tips to help you along the way:
1. During a migraine, slow your breathing down. What I mean is that with the pain comes the hyperventilation which only prolongs and increases the pain.
Try this: Take a deep breath slowly through your nose, then exhale through your mouth. This should help with the pain a little. Practicing the Breath regularly will contribute to your overall well-being.
2. Incorporate some form of Meditation whether it be guided or not. This will help calm, relax and help you feel more peaceful.
3. Try to eat as healthy as you can. (I had allot of trouble with this one as I couldn't eat anything except toast or crackers for 2 months)
4. When you can, exercise. I recommend going for a walk or Restorative Yoga.
Let me know how this works for you.
Love & Light,
Gisèle
